Year 3 Proposal Document (DRAFT)

 

 

 

CfAO Yr. 3 – Education and Human Resources Proposal

(Total Proposal should be 4-5 pages)

 

1. Title of Project.

 

2. Name, affiliation, contact information for Project Leader

 

3. Abstract of full proposal.

 

4. Team members and collaborations.

 

List all team members involved or contributing to this project.

 

Provide for each team member:

Name,

Affiliation,

CfAO member status (member, grad. student, postdoc, non member, etc.),

email address,

Roles and responsibilities on project.

 

 If name is unknown, list as “to be hired” and describe position to be filled (e.g. postdoc).

 

 

5. Budget.

  • Attach a draft but accurate and detailed budget. Provide separate budgets for each site, plus one summary budget.
  • Co-funding. If project is co-funded from outside the CfAO, or is a project within an existing program, provide an outline of CfAO funding relative to other funds (give specific amounts) and identify specifically what the CfAO funds will be spent on.
  • Cost-sharing. Outline cost-sharing from member institutions.
  • Leveraged funding. Describe any funding that has been obtained as a direct result of CfAO funding this project (not co-funding or cost-sharing). Also describe any future plans to apply for additional external funds.

 

 

 

 

 

6.  Major educational goal(s) of program. Indicate the major aim(s) of this project or program and how it relates to one or more CfAO educational goals. The CfAO is currently developing a comprehensive evaluation plan for all EHR activities and would be pleased to assist you in defining a goal(s).

       Note – A short succinct sentence is requested.

 

 

 

 

 

 

7. Need. (Approximately 1 paragraph). Describe the need for this project relative to existing research, projects, and barriers. Start with a general introduction and then develop the specifics that will clearly show the relationship between your activities, measurable outcomes, and the need.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8. Measurable outcomes. Measurable outcomes are the indicators or steps that indicate your progress toward your goal(s). Typically there are 3-5 measurable outcomes (qualitative or quantitative) for each goal. Please do not list program activities or a list of “to do’s” in this section. Contact EHR if you would like assistance in developing measurable outcomes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

9. Method and activities (1-2 pages). Describe the strategies, methods, and activities that will be developed and/or implemented. This should clearly relate to your identified need, measurable outcomes and goals. Describe how your project is aligned with CfAO EHR Guidelines, best practices, standards, or areas identified as needing more research. Also describe how the activities integrate CfAO scientific research into educational activities.


10. Evaluation and Assessment. (A paragraph or table)

Describe how you will:

·        evaluate the progress and success of this project.

·        use evaluation to gain insight into how well your program is performing and what adjustments may be necessary to keep it on track?

·        track participants (the beneficiaries of your project) will be tracked over time and for how long

 

 List evaluation tools (surveys, interviews, program records, focus groups, institutional records, portfolios, etc.) currently used or to be developed. .

 

List the relevant participant  background information that will be provided to CfAO t (copy of their  application is fine).

 

 

11. Astronomy/Vision Science Interactions. Describe, if relevant, how this project stimulates or promotes interaction between astronomy and vision science, or any relation they have to proposed activity.

 

 

 

12. Partnerships. Describe any partnerships with programs, projects, groups outside of the CfAO, and the roles in these partnerships.

 

 

 

 

 

 

13. Schedule/Milestones. Outline the schedule for this project and the milestones that will be used to track progress. Provide multi-year planning if appropriate.

 

 

14. Progress Report on Past Work.

If any of this project was funded by CfAO in Year 2, include a progress report through 1/31/01 (or beyond) and an annual report for Year 1 (if not already submitted). Please do not combine Year 1 with Year 2 reports.
